White cabbage pot

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • some bacon, diced (about 1/2 pack)
  • 3 onions, diced
  • 400 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 white cabbage
  • 250 ml broth (or white wine)
  • lots of caraway, freshly ground
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lard

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Heat the lard, fry the diced onions, add the bacon, fry, and season with paprika, salt, pepper, and caraway. Sear the minced meat, deglaze with stock or wine, add the shredded cabbage, and simmer, covered, for about 60-90 minutes while stirring. Add liquid if desired. Season well to taste! It goes well with potatoes, bread, or rice. I cook it the day before. It tastes better once heated, and even better twice.
