Wiener pecan

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 275 g rolled puff pastry, from the refrigerated section
  • 100 g pecans, chopped
  • 1 egg white
  • 60 g sugar
  • some maple syrup
  • some pecans for garnishing

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 13 minutes; Total time approx. 23 minutes

Recipe from Norway, makes 6 pieces

Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 pieces, approximately 12 x 12 cm each. Make 6 x 4.5 cm deep cuts on each square on the two opposite sides, approximately the same distance apart if possible. Chop the pecans, if necessary. Mix the egg whites and sugar together and stir in the pecans. Stir in a little maple syrup as well. The mixture should not be too runny or sticky. Spread the mixture evenly along the uncut center of the puff pastry pieces. Then, alternating between the cuts on each side, overlap them like braiding, so that the baked piece is as closed as possible. Roughly chop a few pecans for garnish and place them on top. These can be glued in place with a little maple syrup, if desired. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake the pastries for about 13 minutes, until the puff pastry has risen and browned. If necessary, let the oven turn off and bake for a few more minutes. Remove the baked goods from the oven. Brush on some maple syrup and let them cool.
