  • ¾ liter orange juice, freshly squeezed and possibly strained
  • 100 g cane sugar or diet sweetener
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp orange liqueur or mandarin liqueur or orange water

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

also suitable for diabetics

Strain 750 ml of freshly squeezed orange juice to remove the pulp (or use ready-made fruit juice without the pulp). Bring the juice to a boil and stir in the sugar or dietary sweetener. Once the sugar has dissolved, let it cool. Then add the cinnamon, orange zest, liqueur, or orange water and stir together. Transfer the mixture to a metal bowl and place it in the freezer or freezer compartment of a refrigerator. Stir thoroughly with a whisk every 20 minutes to prevent ice crystals from forming and to ensure all ingredients are well blended. Depending on the temperature of the freezer, this may need to be repeated 5 to 8 times. Serve in serving bowls, champagne flutes, or cleaned, hollowed-out orange halves. Tip: Garnish with mint and orange segments or slices, if desired.
