Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 savoy cabbage
- 500 g minced meat, seasoned, with onions
- 1 onion(s), finely diced
- 2 can/n tomatoes, chunky
- 1 cup of sweet cream
- Caraway seeds
- Salt and pepper, sugar
- 5 tbsp fat for frying, e.g. Rama Culinesse
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
Bring a pot of water to a boil with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds. Carefully remove the savoy cabbage leaves and blanch them in the cooking water. Don’t discard the cooking water! You’ll need 16 large savoy cabbage leaves; chop the rest into small pieces. Place the seasoned minced meat on each of the leaves and wrap them in small rolls. Pin the 8 rolls together or wrap them with kitchen string. Brown the rolls all over in the cooking fat, then remove. Add the remaining cabbage and onion to the cooking fat and fry briefly. Deglaze with 2-3 cups of the cooking water. Add the tomatoes, pour in the cream, and season with salt, pepper, sugar, and caraway seeds, if desired. If the sauce is too thick, add more cooking water. Now add the rolls back in and simmer gently for 30 minutes. Serve everything with rice or mashed potatoes.
