Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled, diced
  • 1 kg carrot(s), cleaned, diced
  • 1 kg diced smoked pork (also tastes good with streaky bacon, but then only 500g)
  • 1 turnip(s), cleaned, diced
  • 1 tbsp marjoram
  • 1 tbsp salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable broth

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Combine all ingredients in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Bring to a boil briefly, then simmer gently for about half an hour. Drain the stock, reserving some of it. Mash everything with a potato masher, adding more stock if necessary. (It should be nice and moist.) Perhaps add a little more seasoning. This dish won’t win any beauty awards, but it tastes all the better for it!
