Yugoslavian onion salad

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g onion(s)
  • 1 red bell pepper(s)
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 125 ml oil (olive oil)
  • 3 tbsp vinegar (herb vinegar)
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 1 tsp thyme, freshly chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings (a cucumber slicer works well). Quarter the bell peppers, remove the seeds, and wash them. Cut them into as thin strips as possible using a sharp knife. For the marinade: Mix 125 ml olive oil with 3 tablespoons of herb vinegar. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and freshly chopped thyme. Mix the onion rings and bell pepper strips thoroughly with the marinade. Let it marinate in a cool place for at least 1 hour.
