Zebra cake

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 5 m.-sized eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 orange(s), grated peel
  • 250 ml liqueur (vanilla liqueur) or ready-made vanilla sauce
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar
  • 200 ml oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Beat eggs, sugar, a pinch of salt, vanilla sugar, and orange zest in a food processor or with a hand mixer for at least 10 minutes until very thick and creamy. Slowly add the oil and vanilla liqueur, one at a time. Sift the flour and baking powder and stir briefly. Divide the dough in half, and stir the cocoa and milk into one half. Grease and flour a 26 cm springform pan. Layer the batters alternately with a spoon in the center of the pan. Do not spread them; the batters will naturally push outwards from the center. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C on the second rack from the bottom for 45 minutes (gas mark 2-3, fan oven 40 minutes at 160°C). Allow the cake to cool in the pan until lukewarm. Dust with powdered sugar. Tip: Orange and pear compote is the ideal accompaniment to the cake.
