Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat
  • 1 chili pepper(s), pitted and chopped
  • 3 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 sprigs of lemon thyme, finely chopped leaves
  • 1 tsp marjoram, dried
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 green bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 lime(s)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • 400 ml water
  • 125 g feta cheese

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Mix the minced meat with egg yolk, pepper, salt, lemon thyme, marjoram, mustard, half the garlic, 1/2 chili pepper, and 1/2 finely chopped onion. Dice the feta cheese. Form small meatballs and fill each with a cube of feta cheese. Fry in oil and keep warm. In the frying fat, fry the peppers with the remaining sliced ​​onion. Add the tomato paste and the remaining garlic and chili, pour in the water, and reduce the heat slightly. Squeeze the lime. Season the vegetables with pepper, salt, paprika, lime juice, and sugar. Add the meatballs and sprinkle the remaining feta cheese on top. Serve with basmati rice. Tip: The amount of chili depends on your taste. If you don’t have lemon thyme, you can use regular chili and add a little grated lemon zest to the minced meat.
