Christmassy – wintery candy dream

Cut off the top third of the apples, hollow them out generously, and remove the cores. Crush the marzipan and mix it with the egg, vanilla sugar, and plenty of cinnamon until it forms a paste. Layer the apples in a baking dish and fill with the mixture. Place a slice of butter on each apple and sprinkle with the almonds. Bake in the oven until the mixture is well browned. For the vanilla sauce, bring 2/3 of the milk to a boil with the sugar, stirring. Mix the custard powder with the milk and prepare the vanilla sauce according to the package instructions, stirring continuously. Serve the vanilla sauce on plates, place a baked apple in the center of each plate, and place a baked apple “lid” on top of the apple.
