American chocolate chip cookies

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 130 g wheat flour and 2 tbsp, sifted.
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 130 g butter, soft
  • 6 tbsp white sugar
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp water
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 190 g chocolate (chips, dark chocolate or chocolate drops)
  • 60 g hazelnuts, roughly chopped or Smarties

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Soft and sticky on the inside, crispy on the outside! Makes about 20 cookies

Preheat the oven to 190°C (gas mark 3). Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. In a bowl, cream together the butter, white and brown sugar, vanilla extract, water, and egg until creamy. Add the flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts or Smarties. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto a greased baking sheet (or lined with baking paper) and flatten slightly, leaving enough space between each one—at least 4-5 cm—because the cookies will rise a lot! When the dough feels nice and sticky, it’s done. Bake for 10-12 minutes; the cookies should be lightly browned. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for a few more minutes. They taste best fresh and hot; otherwise, cool completely on a wire rack. Eat the cookies quickly, as they harden quickly and lose their typical “unfinished,” soft center. These cookies taste exactly like American cookies and are very easy to make.
