  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

quick execution without long resting time, makes 2 strudels

Place flour and salt in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Pour water and oil into the well, then knead all ingredients by hand until dough forms. If the dough is too soft, add a little more flour. Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a tea towel, and let it rest in an oven preheated to 50°C (122°F) for about 15 minutes. In the meantime, peel and slice the apples and mix them with the gingerbread spice. Remove the dough from the oven, cut it in half, and place one half on a floured tea towel. Roll it out very thinly with a rolling pin. Sprinkle the cornstarch evenly over the dough using a fine sieve to prevent it from getting soggy. Distribute the apples and ground nuts on top and roll up the strudel using the towel. Make the second strudel in the same way. Place the strudel on a deep baking tray lined with baking paper and brush with melted butter. Bake at 180 degrees fan oven for 45-60 minutes until light brown.
