Baked Apple South Tyrol

The perfect baked apple south tyrol recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 Royal Gala
  • 200 g Marzipan raw mass
  • 2 tbsp Ground hazelnuts
  • 3 piece Spekulatius
  • 3 tbsp Sultanas
  • 4 cl Pircher fruit schnapps
  • 1 tsp Ginger bread spice
  • 0,5 tsp Lemon juice
  • 20 g Butter
  • 5 Walnuts
  • 1 Star anise per apple
  • 2 tbsp Powdered sugar
  1. Soak the sultanas in the fruit schnapps. For children, the sultanas are soaked in apple juice.
  2. Wash and dry the apples and remove the core. Cut a small lid from each apple.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  4. For the filling I use marzipan mixture (cut it into small pieces), finely chopped speculoos, 2 tbsp hazelnuts, soaked sultanas, 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice, lemon juice and a little sugar Mix these ingredients well and season to taste.
  5. Put the apples in a greased dish and fill with the mixture.
  6. Chop the walnuts and place on the mass. Finally, put the hood on the apples and spread the butter on the apples. Place the baking sheet on the lowest rail.
  7. I can tell that the apples are ready by the fact that the skin has popped open (approx. 40 min.)
  8. Shortly before the apples are ready, you can put a star anise on each apple, but it’s a matter of taste. Can be done but doesn’t have to be. With some cranberries and / or vanilla sauce.
