Baked apples with marzipan, walnuts and yogurt sauce

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 sweet and sour apples, e.g. Boskop or Cox Orange
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 12 walnut halves
  • 30 g marzipan paste
  • Cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp apple juice
  • 300 g yogurt
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Wash the apples thoroughly, dry them, and remove the core, blossom, and stem using an apple corer. Then drizzle with lemon juice and place in a baking dish. For the filling, chop six walnut halves and fill the baked apples alternately with the marzipan. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on each baked apple. Pour the apple juice over the apples. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the baked apples on the middle rack for 40 minutes, until the skins begin to crack open. Meanwhile, mix the yogurt with the maple syrup and season with a little cinnamon. Pour a layer of yogurt sauce onto a plate, place the baked apples on top, and then decorate with walnuts. Enjoy!
