Balsamic onions

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 250 g shallot(s)
  • 1 tbsp honey, liquid
  • 20 g butter
  • 4 tbsp Balsamic vinegar, dark
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 sprigs of thyme, preferably fresh

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Antipasti like at the Italian restaurant

Peel the shallots and halve them lengthwise. Heat the melted honey and butter in a small nonstick pan, add the shallots, season with salt, pepper, and thyme, and cook for about 2 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Deglaze the shallots with the balsamic vinegar and simmer on low heat for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. The balsamic onions are perfect served cold or warm with grilled dishes or on an antipasti buffet.
