Bircher muesli

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 150 g oat flakes (small leaf)
  • 75 g hazelnuts, grated
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 medium-sized apple with peel, coarsely grated
  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup depending on your sweetness (can be replaced with agave syrup or sugar)
  • 10 walnuts (or cashews and/or almonds)
  • 1 pack of frozen berries (e.g. blackberries, raspberries, strawberries or 1 banana and 10 strawberries each, quartered)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 hours; Total time approx. 10 hours 15 minutes

Mix the oat flakes with hazelnuts, grated apple, and vanilla sugar. Add enough milk to cover and float slightly. Refrigerate overnight. Place the frozen berries in the refrigerator to thaw. The next morning, if the mixture is too runny, drain off some of the milk. Season the Bircher muesli with maple syrup and mix in the nuts and berries.
