The ingredients in the leaves of the blueberry are said to have a blood-sugar-lowering effect. However, this has not yet been proven. In addition, prolonged consumption of blueberry leaves can lead to symptoms of poisoning.

Botany
The blueberry is a deciduous subshrub. It is characteristic that it is heavily branched. It grows between 20 and 50 centimeters high and has green, angular, winged branches. The leaves have a short stalk, and a finely serrated edge and are egg-shaped. There are both green and red flowers that bloom from April to August. The fruit can be picked from July to September. It tastes sweet and is blue-black in color when ripe.
Distribution
The blueberry can be found in the forests of northern and central Europe. Cultivated blueberries are grown almost worldwide.
