Fake peaches
Mix all the dough ingredients one after the other. It should be soft and smooth. Form them into small balls, larger than a hazelnut but smaller than a walnut. Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, at least 2 cm apart. Bake at a maximum of 160°C (depending on the oven) for about 10 minutes, or as desired. The balls should not turn dark or crack. During baking, the balls will turn into hemispheres. Carefully hollow them out. From experience, I know it’s best to let them cool slightly on the baking paper and then cut them out. Once they’ve cooled, they’re very difficult to cut out and break easily. For the filling, crumble the hollowed-out pieces between your fingers and add the remaining ingredients, mixing everything thoroughly. If the children are eating it, omit the rum altogether and add rum flavoring, but then add more milk. Carefully fill the half-spheres with the mixture and press two together to form another ball. Prepare small bowls of red, yellow, orange, and possibly green food coloring. The colors should match the colors of real peaches. Quickly dip the balls in the food coloring, but so that they are colored differently. Then roll them in a little granulated sugar. Place them on a baking sheet to dry, preferably overnight. This recipe is usually made in Croatia for Christmas or weddings. If you’ve done everything right, they will look like real peaches. Good luck!
