Buttermilk potatoes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, mainly waxy
  • 1 bunch of soup vegetables
  • 3 bay leaves
  • Allspice
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • lemon juice
  • 100 g bacon, streaky
  • 4 sausages (Debrecziner)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Peel and dice the potatoes, then cook them in a little water with the soup vegetables, spices, and bay leaves. Meanwhile, dice the streaky bacon and fry them in a pan. Slice the sausages and fry them with the bacon until crispy. Once the potatoes are tender, add the cream and buttermilk and heat until piping hot. Don’t let it boil. Season to taste with lemon, sugar, and salt. Just before serving, stir in the bacon and sausage cubes. They can also be served separately, but I think they taste better mixed together.
