Spread the love

  • 1 kg apples
  • 250 ml apple juice
  • 250 g honey
  • some cinnamon powder, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cooking over an open fire

Cut the apples into pieces, strips, or whatever you prefer. Remove the cores and cores and place the pieces in a pot or kettle. Hang the pot on a tripod over the fire and add the juice. Let the fruit simmer gently for a few minutes, until the water is gone, stirring regularly. Add the honey. Toss the apples in the honey and let it infuse well. Add a bit of cinnamon for flavor and if desired. This will give the fruit a Christmassy baked apple flavor. When the apples are soft and the honey is well absorbed and distributed, remove the pot from the heat. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
