Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg cherries
  • 1 vanilla pod(s), crushed
  • 500 g sugar, less if needed
  • 1 ½ liters of clear schnapps

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Wash the cherries thoroughly. Do not pit them. Place them in a stoneware container (rum pot or similar) along with the cut-up vanilla pod. Add 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of the cherries in sugar, to taste. Pour in the alcohol until the fruit is well covered. Let stand for 6-8 weeks. Then filter, bottle, and seal. Let the liqueur rest for a while before serving.
