Chinese fortune cookies

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g wheat flour
  • 50 g ground almonds
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 250 g sugar
  • 100 g butter, soft
  • 3 drops of bitter almond flavor

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Write wishes on small strips of paper. Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius, mix all ingredients into a dough. Place baking paper on a baking sheet and place a spoonful of dough on each one, spaced 10 centimeters apart. Bake the cookies for 10 to 15 minutes – then everything has to happen very quickly: While the cookies are still warm, place strips of paper with the wishes, words of wisdom, etc., in the middle and fold the cookie. The fortune cookie gets its typical crease by placing it on the rim of a glass and pressing the ends down. Let it cool completely, wrap it in paper or cellophane, and ideally open and eat it on New Year’s Eve. Good luck!
