Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 250 g white bread, baguette or roll, stale
  • 100 g chocolate drops
  • 500 ml milk
  • 200 ml cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 40 g brown sugar
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Using up leftover dry bread

Preheat oven to 170°C (fan/convection oven). Grease a baking dish. Cut stale white bread, baguette, or rolls (any leftover from the day before) into cubes and place them in the dish with chocolate chips (or sprinkles). Whisk together the milk, cream, and eggs to make a sauce and spread it over the bread. Sprinkle brown sugar over the casserole. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. This makes a delicious casserole that tastes best served warm from the oven.
