Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 5 m.-sized eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 190 ml oil
  • 190 ml water
  • 350 g flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 orange(s), grated peel
  • Jam, for spreading
  • Cake icing, chocolate

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 hours; Total time approx. 5 hours 15 minutes

easy and fast

Preheat oven to 180°C fan/gas mark 3. Dough: Mix egg yolks, sugar, oil, water, cocoa, and orange zest with a mixer until the sugar has dissolved. Then stir in the flour mixed with the baking powder. Finally, beat 5 egg whites until stiff peaks and fold in. Pour the mixture into a 26cm cake tin, grease only the base, fill, and bake for about 45 minutes. Let cool, then cut in half. Spread with jam and reassemble. Spread all over with jam, let dry briefly, and then glaze with chocolate. Decorate as desired.
