American chocolate chip cookies, makes 26 pieces

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. In the mixing bowl, beat the butter with both sugars with an electric mixer until the butter is fluffy and smooth. This should take a good 10 minutes. Scrape the butter from the sides of the bowl occasionally to ensure no unwhipped butter remains. Then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well blended. Add the flour mixture and fold in slowly, then beat until smooth. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips. You can make the chocolate chips from 2 bars of chocolate by breaking them into pieces and then chopping them up in a mixer. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Using a tablespoon, scoop out walnut-sized portions of the dough, shape them into rounds, and lightly flatten them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. As the cookies expand in the oven, leave enough space between them. One sheet will hold 6-9 cookies. Bake for 15 minutes using conventional ovenproof cooking methods. Then remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes. They’ll be very fragile while warm and won’t be cooked through yet, but they’ll be perfect. After 5 minutes, transfer the cookies to a wire rack with a spatula to cool completely. One cookie has approximately 172 kcal.
