Cream Pegs
The perfect cream pegs recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 500 g Herring fillets
- 1 size Onion
- 2 Apples
- 4 Pickles and some vinegar water
- 200 g Cream
- 100 ml Milk
- 1 tbsp Mayonnaise
- 5 Cloves
- 5 Juniper berries
- 2 Bay leaves
- Pepper
- Rinse the herring fillets and cut into pieces if necessary.
- Peel and finely dice the onion. Peel the apple, cut into quarters, remove the core and cut the apple quarters into cubes. Also cut the pickles into cubes.
- Put everything in a bowl and season lightly with pepper. Add the cloves, juniper berries and bay leaves.
- Pour in the cream, a little vinegar water and milk, mix everything together well and let it steep for at least 5 hours (preferably overnight).
- Before serving, remove the cloves, juniper berries and bay leaves and season again with pepper and vinegar water.
