simple and tasty
Heat the lard in a pan and sauté the onion strips until translucent. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Slice the tomatoes as well. Place half of the onions in an ovenproof dish, top with half of the apple slices and white wine, and then half of the tomato slices. Lightly sprinkle the apple and tomato slices with salt, pepper, and sugar. Lightly pound the schnitzels, season with salt and pepper, coat with flour, and place them on top of the tomatoes. Layer the onions, apples, and tomato slices on top. Season these again. Bake in a hot oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes. Carefully transfer the mixture to two plates and pour the resulting broth over the tomatoes. Serve with potatoes or mashed potatoes.
