Franconian flour dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 4 stale rolls from the day before
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cut the rolls into cubes and toast them in butter until golden brown. Combine the flour with the baking powder and mix with the eggs, milk, and salt to form a smooth batter. Fold in the toasted bread cubes. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add salt. Using a spoon that you always dip in hot water, scoop out the dumplings and add them to the boiling water. Let the dumplings sit for about 20 minutes.
