Gourmet toast

Spread the love

Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 200 g meatloaf (Leberkäse)
  • 1 pack of grated cheese (I recommend Gouda-Edam mix)
  • 1 cup crème fraîche
  • 1 cup of cream (approx. 200 g)
  • 1 pack of 8 herbs, frozen (or 6 herbs)
  • 12 slices of toast
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • n. B. Fondor
  • n. B. Garlic powder or garlic cloves to taste
  • n. B. Maggi

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Quick and easy, great for parties.

Place the slices of toast on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Cut the meatloaf into thin strips or cubes and mix with the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Season well. (Fondor isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I only use it in this dish because it brings back childhood memories. It’s fine to skip it.) Spread a heaped tablespoon of the mixture, which shouldn’t be too firm, onto each slice of toast. I recommend leaving the edges free, as the mixture will spread a little, and the edges will then become wonderfully crispy! Bake for 15 minutes on the middle rack. It’s also delicious cold.
