Grandma's vanilla sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 300 ml milk
  • 200 ml cream
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Bring the cream, milk, and vanilla seeds to a boil. Meanwhile, combine the sugar with the egg yolk and cornstarch and whisk into the boiling milk. Bring to a boil once, and the sauce is ready. It’s really super easy to make and only takes a few minutes. Don’t throw away the empty vanilla pod; place it in the sugar bowl instead. It makes wonderful vanilla sugar.
