Grilled bananas

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 bananas
  • 250 ml whipped cream
  • Ice cream, vanilla
  • Amaretto, brandy or cognac

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

If you’re looking for a top-notch dessert for your barbecue party, you’ve come to the right place! Place the four bananas on the grill (WITH THE PEEL!!!). Depending on how hot the embers are, leave them on the grill for between 30 and 60 minutes, turning them every 15 minutes. Don’t be alarmed, the banana skin will turn black after just 2 minutes, but that’s okay. The bananas are done when you feel them soft when you press them (do not pierce them with a fork, or you’ll make a mess). The bananas may burst during grilling and some liquid may drip out, but that’s okay. Remove the cooked bananas from the grill and arrange them on plates. Slice them lengthwise, almost cutting off the stem, but leave it on for decoration, so don’t cut it off completely. Open the bananas and drizzle with a little Amaretto (or other) liqueur. Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream on the banana and garnish with whipped cream. Pour another shot of Amaretto over the banana. Serve and enjoy!
