nice and crispy, with variations

Beat softened butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar until creamy. Then sift in the flour and baking powder and stir in. Add the milk and beat the batter until creamy, about 3-5 minutes. Preheat the waffle iron and bake the waffles. For heart-shaped waffles, use about 3 tablespoons of batter (but not too much!) per waffle. The batter yields about 6-7 waffles. Let the finished waffles cool on a rack or eat warm. Variations: – Stir in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or gingerbread spice with the flour. Serve with apple compote and cream. – Dry-roast about 100g of desiccated coconut until golden brown and add to the finished batter. Serve with strawberries and cream. – Dry-roast 100g of sesame seeds until golden brown. Serve with figs and honey yogurt. – Stir in a little vanilla pulp with the flour. Serve with hot cherries and vanilla ice cream. – Stir in a little nutmeg with the flour. Serve with banana curd.
