Ingredients
- 200 g Butter
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 packet Vanilla sugar
- 1 Egg
- 300 g Flour
- 1 Orange fresh
- 50 g Cranberries canned drained
- 30 g Candied ginger
- 700 g Apples fresh
- 1 teaspoon Orange peel aroma or grated peel of an organic orange
- 50 g Sugar
- Some flour
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Knead the butter with sugar, vanilla sugar, egg and flour to make a shortcrust pastry. Wrap in cling film and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Squeeze the orange. Drain the cranberries. Cut the ginger into small pieces. Quarter and peel the apples, remove the core and cut into cubes. Mix with the orange juice.
- Add the cranberries, ginger, flavor (or zest of orange peel) and sugar to the apples. Mix everything well. Let it steep for 30 minutes.
- Roll out 2 / 3 of the dough on a little flour. Place in a greased tart pan (25 cm diameter). Prick the bottom several times with a fork. Bake in the oven at 175 degrees for 15 minutes.
- Take the baking tin out of the oven. Spread the apple mixture on the floor. Roll out the remaining dough. Remove the strips and place them in a grid over the apples. Bake in the oven in about 30 minutes.
- Take the cake out of the oven. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
