Kasseler with Rösti crust

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 8 slices of smoked pork
  • 2 packs of frozen Rösti wedges
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 cup crème fraîche with herbs
  • 200 g Gouda, grated
  • Fat for the tray or for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Preheat oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Place the smoked pork on a greased baking sheet or in a large casserole dish. Thaw the frozen rösti and crumble them. Mix together the sour cream and crème fraîche. Mix the rösti and grated cheese with the mixture and pour the mixture over the meat. Place in the hot oven and bake until the rösti crust is nice and crispy (approx. 45 minutes). Tips: This recipe is very versatile. You can also first place the crumbled rösti on the meat and then spread the sour cream, crème fraîche, and cheese on top. Or replace one cup of sour cream with whipped cream. Or add another cup of cream for more sauce. Or arrange pineapple slices on the smoked pork. I always make it a little different myself!
