Ingredients for 20 servings:

  • 2 cubes of yeast
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1,000 g flour
  • 160 g butter
  • 160 g sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon(s) – zest (grated)
  • 2 m.-sized eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 egg yolks

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

A decorative lucky charm.

Mix yeast and lukewarm milk. Knead with flour, melted butter, sugar, lemon zest, eggs, and salt. Let rise for 30 minutes. Weigh out 600 g of dough. Shape the remaining dough into a 120 cm long roll and place it on an oiled baking sheet as a pretzel. Divide the remaining dough into thirds, shape each into a 30 cm long roll, and braid. Brush with a little water, stick it onto the pretzel, and let rise for 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 170 °C (150 °C fan oven). Brush the pretzel with beaten egg yolk and bake for about 30 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes at 170 °C (150 °C fan oven). Per serving: approximately 260 kcal, protein: 8 g, fat: 9 g, carbohydrates: 37 g.
