Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest period approx. 28 days; Total time approx. 28 days 25 minutes

consisting mainly of lemon balm

Wash the 8-10 fresh lemon balm sprigs and spin them dry. Also add the fresh spearmint. Place the herbs in a container. Pour the rum over them and add the sugar. If you prefer it sweeter, you can also add 150g-200g of sugar and the dried lemon and orange zest. Seal the bottle and place it in a sunny spot (by a window). Shake it several times to dissolve the sugar. Let it stand for 4-6 weeks, then strain the herbs and pour the liqueur into a suitable bottle. Spearmint, also known as Nana Mint or Curly Mint, doesn’t have the fresh taste of peppermint, but it does have a pleasant flavor and is used in the chewing gum and toothpaste industries. Lemon balm has a beneficial effect on the intestines and digestion and is also used for colds. The same applies to mint, which has a beneficial effect on the respiratory system. This makes the liqueur a healthy gift for good friends and family. Plus, it tastes good and is sure to be well received.
