Matjes Chopsticks
The perfect matjes chopsticks recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 200 g Herring fillet
- 1 Hard boiled egg
- 1 kl. Onion
- 80 g Cucumber
- 0,5 bunch Chives fresh
- Black pepper from the mill
- 1 tbsp Grainy mustard
- 0,5 Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Rinse the matjes fillet and dry on kitchen paper – then cut the matjes into very small cubes
- Halve the cucumber and scrape out the stones – cut into very small cubes – also cut the onion and egg into very small cubes – put all the ingredients in a bowl – 1 tablespoon of grainy mustard – add the juice of half a lemon and plenty of pepper from the mill
- Cut the chives into rolls while leaving a few tips behind for decoration – finally lift the chives rolls under the hackers-
- We like the häckerle on fresh buttered black bread – as a snack for guests, I give the häckerle on round buttered pumpernickel slices –
