Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 140 g margarine
  • 140 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 160 ml buttermilk
  • 360 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 250 g icing sugar, for the glaze and liquid

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

makes about 40 pieces

Preheat oven to 180°C. Whisk margarine, sugar, and vanilla sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and buttermilk and mix well. Then add flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until creamy. Using an ice cream scoop (so they’re all the same size), place small heaps a few centimeters apart on the baking sheet. Bake for about 12 minutes. Once cooled, combine the powdered sugar with water, milk, lemon juice, soda, rum, etc., to make a glaze. Brush this over the bottom of the American cookies.
