Mozzarella Burger

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 balls of mozzarella
  • 4 slices of Parma ham or other bone-in ham
  • 4 tsp pesto
  • 6 cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt
  • olive oil
  • Pepper, freshly ground
  • Thyme

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Cut each ball of mozzarella in half (like a roll) and spread 1 tablespoon of pesto on each half. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme and top with sliced tomatoes. Fold back together and wrap each with a slice of ham. Place the mozzarella burgers in an ovenproof dish greased with a little olive oil. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 10 minutes. I serve them with a green salad and ciabatta bread. The burgers taste best when the cheese is just about to melt. Tip: Instead of tomatoes, you can also top the burgers with finely diced red bell peppers.
