tastes good warm, cold, or with ice in sparkling wine

This recipe makes 10 250 ml bottles. Pour boiling water over suitable bottles, let stand for 5 minutes, and then drain. Halve the orange, slice one half, and squeeze the other. Combine the mulled wine with the sugar, orange slices, pressed juice, and spices in a saucepan and bring to a boil while stirring. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, and then allow to cool to room temperature. Remove the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and star anise, and strain the liqueur through a fine sieve until no solids remain. Add the gin and, if desired, stir in the food glitter. Pour into clean bottles. Shake vigorously before serving. Delicious cold, warm, or in sparkling wine.
