Pastry specialty from Canada

Melt the butter, sugar, and cocoa powder in a double boiler. Add the egg. Stir until boiling and thickening. Remove from the heat and stir in the wafer or rusk crumbs, desiccated coconut, and almonds. Press the mixture into an ungreased dish (e.g., a brownie dish). Mix the butter, cream, pudding powder, and powdered sugar well, then beat until firm. Spread the mixture over the base and smooth it with a knife. Melt the chocolate and butter over low heat. Once it has cooled slightly, pour it over the second layer and refrigerate the whole thing until the top layer has set. Then cut the mixture into rectangles with a knife. Be careful that the chocolate layer isn’t too hard. If necessary, wait a few minutes after taking the mixture out of the refrigerator before cutting.
