Nutella wafers

These waffles are quick and easy to make and a hit at children’s birthday parties or celebrations/parties. Preheat oven to 200 degrees (top and bottom heat). Beat the eggs (do not separate them) with the water using a mixer until they have doubled in volume. Sprinkle in the sugar and continue stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Mix the flour with the baking powder and add it a spoonful at a time to the egg and sugar mixture. Spread the batter onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper (slightly larger than the waffles) and bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes. After baking, remove the sheet and place the jar of Nutella in the still-warm oven. Allow the sponge cake to cool slightly. Warming the Nutella will make it soft, making it easier to spread on the sponge cake. When the Nutella is soft, spread half of the jar (200g) over the sponge cake. Carefully place the first waffle on top with the thinner side and press down lightly. Carefully turn the Nutella sponge wafer over and spread the second half of the Nutella. Press the second wafer on top. Then you can cut it into small rectangles with a knife. These wafers are called Tena wafers “Czech or Croatian” and you can find them in packs of five in any large supermarket.
