Onion fritters

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 3 large onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 125 g chickpea flour
  • 75 g flour (wheat flour)
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Halve and slice the onions. Finely chop the garlic. Blend the chickpea and wheat flour with the egg, baking powder, cayenne pepper, and water into a smooth batter. Stir in the garlic and onions. Heat 2 cm of oil in a large, shallow frying pan. Gradually add the batter by tablespoonfuls, forming small patties. Fry on both sides until cooked through and golden brown. Place on a wire rack lined with kitchen paper. Serve with chili sauce or spicy mango chutney.
