How to make orange marmalade with ginger yourself
You only need a few ingredients for the homemade jam.
- First, you need a kilogram of oranges. The weight does not refer to the fruit with the skin. One kilogram of orange fillets is required. You must therefore first peel the oranges and also remove the white skin before you weigh the quantity.
- Tip: If you use organic oranges, you can add some grated orange zest to the jam.
- In addition to 500 g preserving sugar 2:1, you also need 50 g peeled and finely chopped ginger.
- First cut the peeled oranges into small pieces. If you prefer jam without pieces, puree the fruit a little with the hand blender. Then chop the ginger into very fine pieces.
- Put the oranges, the finely chopped ginger, and the preserving sugar in a large saucepan, mix all the ingredients and leave to stand for about three hours.
- Then cook the jam. Let the mixture cook for about three to four minutes, stirring constantly. Then the orange-ginger jam is ready and can be filled into boiled jam jars.
- Seal the jars and turn them upside down to cool.
