  • 1 can of tomatoes
  • 350 g Bratwurst, Thuringian or other fresh
  • 2 onions
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • Tomato paste
  • 100 g cheese, grated
  • 125g mozzarella

  • basil
  • olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

with sausage meat balls

Remove the sausage from the skin and form into small (gnocchi-sized) balls. Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the balls. Drain the fried balls on kitchen paper. Finely dice the onion, press the garlic, and cut the tomatoes into pieces (reserving the liquid). Heat olive oil in a small saucepan, add the onion and garlic, and sauté. Add the tomato paste and fry briefly, then add the tomatoes and liquid and top up with a little water or, if desired, broth. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and chili. Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes. You can also simmer longer. Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions and place them in a baking dish along with the sausage balls. Add the butter and finely chopped basil to the sauce. Spread the sauce over the gnocchi and sprinkle with chopped mozzarella and cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C top/bottom heat for about 25-30 minutes.
