Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 600 g pork schnitzel
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp thyme
- 3 tsp paprika powder, sweet
- 1 tsp cumin, ground
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 onions
- 150 ml olive oil
- 2 dashes lemon juice
- 1 tsp mustard, hot
- salt and pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 2 days; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 2 days 35 minutes
First, wash the meat, pat dry, and cut into wafer-thin strips. Peel and slice the onions. Peel and mince the garlic. Mix it with the meat and the remaining spices and let it marinate in the refrigerator for about 1 to 2 days. Fry in batches in a very hot pan and keep warm. Serve the gyros hot. Serve with coleslaw, rice, and Greek antipasti as side dishes.
