Pea Soup with Smoked Pork

Ingredients
 

  • 500 g Green peas
  • 500 g Kasseler
  • 1 bunch Soup vegetables
  • 3 Potatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 100 g Ham cubes
  • 1 L Vegetable broth
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 5 Allspice grains
  • 1 handful Roasted onions
  • Loaf

Instructions
 

  • Soak the peas in cold water overnight.
  • Now cook the peas in the soaking water for about 30 minutes.
  • Add the kasseler, spices and cleaned and chopped soup vegetables, also add the peeled and diced potatoes, pour in the vegetable stock and simmer for another 60 minutes.
  • Peel and dice the onions and sauté them in the oil with the diced ham, add to the pea soup and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Take the smoked pork from the soup, cut into cubes, and set aside.
  • Purée the pea soup with the potato masher or, if you like it very fine, with the hand blender.
  • Put the Kasseler back into the soup and let it steep for another 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle fried onions on the pea soup and serve bread.
