Pickle cucumbers – that’s how it works

First, soak the cucumbers in water for three to four hours.

  1. First, soak the cucumbers in water for three to four hours.
  2. Meanwhile, cut the dill stalks into pieces about 10cm long. Then peel and halve a few cloves of garlic. Then peel a few horseradish roots, which you then cut into slices about 0.5 cm thick.
  3. After soaking the cucumber in water long enough, cut off the tops and prick the cucumber about 2-3 times with a knife.
  4. Place the dill, garlic, and horseradish mixture in the bottom of a mason jar and place the cucumbers on top. Finish the contents on top again with a layer of the mixture.
  5. Next, boil some water and then let it cool down. Then pour the water over the contents of the mason jar until well covered and add a handful of salt.
  6. After that, seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place.
