Makes about 8 meatballs, for a casserole dish

Soak the bread roll in water. Clean the mushrooms and halve or quarter them if necessary. Peel the onion and dice finely. Knead the minced meat with the well-squeezed bread roll, egg, onion, and tomato paste. Season well with pizza seasoning, salt, and pepper, and form into 8 meatballs. Fry in a little oil for about 4 minutes on each side and place in a baking dish. Fry the mushrooms all over in the frying fat and season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Peel and finely chop the garlic. Mix with the tomatoes and season. Spread the mushrooms and tomatoes on the meatballs. Sprinkle with cheese and bake on the middle rack for about 30 minutes. Serve with ciabatta.
