Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 1 kg apples
- 100 ml lemon juice
- 220 sugar
- 5 tbsp rum
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 5 rolls (milk)
- 250 ml milk
- 4 eggs
- 125 g butter or margarine
- 50 g whipped cream
- 2 tbsp flour
- 100 g almond flakes
- 2 tbsp almonds
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Quarter, core, and slice the apples. Mix with lemon juice, 50g sugar, rum, and cinnamon. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Cut the rolls into 1cm thick slices. Layer the rolls and compote in a baking dish. Top with the rolls. Mix the milk, eggs, and 50g sugar and pour over the casserole. Bake in a preheated oven (175°C/150°C fan/gas mark 2) for about 40 minutes. Bring the butter, 120g sugar, cream, flour, and almonds to a boil. After about 20 minutes of baking, spread over the casserole and finish baking.
