- 8 m.-sized potatoes
- 1 clove(s) garlic
- butter
- 2 cups of cream
- salt and pepper
- nutmeg
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
As a side dish for 4 people or as a main course with salad for 2 people
Rub a baking dish first with a clove of garlic, then with butter. Grate the potatoes into very fine slices, then arrange them in three layers in the dish. Season each layer with pepper and salt generously. Finally, pour enough cream over the potatoes to cover them. Top the dish with fresh nutmeg and a few knobs of butter, and bake for about 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 200°C (400°F). The gratin is done when it’s browned. To be on the safe side, you can insert a fork into the center of the gratin after 40 minutes to check if the potatoes are tender.
